Frequently asked questions
What do I wear during my spray tan?
Whatever makes you feel most comfortable! Bathing suit, underwear, or birthday suit—I truly do not judge. I’ve seen it all and I’m just here for your glow, not your outfit choices 🤍
Where are you located?
I run Kaylie’s Custom Glow right out of my garage spray setup (very chic, very private, very glow-worthy). I’m located in Grimesland, NC—just outside of Greenville!
When should I book my spray tan?
For events: 1–2 days before is perfect so your color has time to settle into its full glow moment.
For vacations: the day before you leave so you’re stepping off the plane looking like you live in vacation mode full-time ✈️✨
How long do I have to wait to shower?
8–10 hours is the sweet spot! Think of it as your tan’s little “let me marinate” era.
How long will my tan last?
With proper care, you can expect 7–10 days of bronzed goodness. Basically: one week of “yes, I am naturally this glowy.”
Will it stain my clothes or sheets?
You might notice a little bronzer rub-off while it develops—but don’t panic, it washes out of everything. No permanently orange pajamas here, I promise.
Do I need to prep before my appointment?
Yes please! Exfoliate + shave 24 hours before your tan so we’re working with smooth, fresh skin. No lotions, oils, or deodorant day-of—think of it as your skin going into “blank canvas mode.”
How did you learn to spray tan people?
One thing you'll notice about me is that I'm not a certified spray tan artist—I'm just a gal who loves being tan and wanted to learn how to help others get that same confidence boost!
My spray tan journey started with countless hours of YouTube videos, TikToks, product research, and a whole lot of trial and error. My husband and best friend were my very patient guinea pigs and received several... let's call them "questionable" spray tans while I learned the ropes.
Before starting Kaylie's Custom Glow, I worked in a tanning salon, which gave me a strong foundation and understanding of how spray tans work, how different skin tones develop, and what helps a tan last. Over time, I combined that experience with hands-on practice and continued education to develop a technique that creates natural-looking, customized results.
I'm always learning, always improving, and committed to giving every client the same care and attention I'd want for my own tan.
Thankfully my bestfriend and husband survived the learning phase, and your tan will look much better than theirs did!
